Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land…all because of public pressure.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2011

1. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12.

The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive the message. Maybe it is time.

These are the folks that couldn’t get the budget out by Oct. 1, and are about to control your health care, cap and trade, and the list goes on and on….

The Time Has Indeed Come! 

Governors of 35 states have already filed suit against the Federal  Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them. It only takes 38 (of  the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.

An idea whose time has come!

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress.  Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the  same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves  from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any  fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws.

The latest was to exempt themselves from the  Healthcare Reform … in all of its forms.

Somehow, that doesn’t seem  logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. 

I truly don’t care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or  whatever. The self-serving must stop!

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded  it. That was in 1971…before computers, before e-mail, before cell  phones, etc.  to become the law of the land…all because of public pressure.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United  States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the  Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ."

I’m asking each reader to forward this link to a minimum of twenty  people on their Address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

The message is loud and clear! The Independent voters are going to control the “ACT” in Congress. If the “Fool” Democrats, and the “Fool” Republicans fail to heed the warning, more of each will get their walking papers next time around. Republican victories in Ohio last night will make it almost impossible for “Obama” to win a second term. The caveat to that is the Republicans need to adjust their platform and come up with “Centrist” candidate and running partner. If they don’t the door will be wide open for a “Independent”. (Ross Perot was just a little to early) Personally I’m itching for a strong Independent.

Obama got spanked last night, so now he has to adjust his agenda. Even Illinois took care of business for the most part.

The message was also clear to the “Tea Party” and they should choose their candidates carefully. Off the wall, lack of common sense and experience will not get a candidate elected and a review of the results supports this view.

Perhaps the Republicans should devote some time and energy resources to educating the “young and foolish and the economically challenged minorities” as to why jumping on board and accepting (voting for) Republican policies would benefit them. It would help us all to have a stronger society and would give the Republicans more of an insight into situations that currently exist in America.

Barney Frank (D-MA) Chairman of the House Committee on Financial Services is demanding the large banks involved in the 2nd mortgage market write down the value of these liens, so investors in the 1st mortgages can write down their investments and move on.

Sounds good! Doesn’t it?

Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) from Harlem, announced Wednesday he will temporarily step down as Chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, saying he didn’t want his ethics controversy to jeopardize election prospects for fellow Democrats.

All I have to say is “It’s about time”.  We really don’t need him guiding and molding tax legislation any longer. Hopefully he is on his way to full resignation from the House of Representatives. It’s time for the people in Harlem to start looking for their next Rep!

Rangel’s poppas attitude toward ethics and full financial disclosure as well as his lack of respect for the oath he took is another good argument for term limits. Rangel’s Record
